 حول القصتين القصيرتين

«القلب الواشي» و«قناع الموت الأحمر»

للكاتب الأمريكي إدغار آلان بو

تميزت أعمال إدغار آلان بو بالغموض والرعب والتركيز في الحالات النفسية لأبطاله. وفي قصتي «القلب الواشي» و«قناع الموت الأحمر» استطاع أن يجسد صراع الإنسان الداخلي ومعاناته ونتائج أفعاله. تم تجسيده في قصة «القلب الواشي» عن طريق رجل قاده الجنون إلى ارتكاب جريمة قتل، وفي نهاية المطاف يتجلى إحساسه بالذنب في شكل هلوسة فيعترف بجريمته. أما في قصة «قناع الموت الأحمر»، فجسدت الفكرة من خلال أمير ظن أنه يستطيع أن يهرب من الموت، وأنه أفضل من بقية الشعب الفقير؛ فأراه الموت أنه لا يمكن أن يختبئ.

المسابقة مفتوحة لكلِّ الأعمار بدءًا من 16 عامًا.

ماذا أكتب؟ 

اكتب مقالًا عن أي جانب من جوانب العمل كان له تأثير فيك كقارئ (شخصيات القصتين - الحبكة - تحليل نقدي - موضوعات تتطرق لها القصتان - مقارنات - الرموز التي يمكن أن تشير إليها القصتان... إلخ).

من حق كلِّ متسابق أن يشارك بمقال واحد لا أكثر.

كيف أكتب؟

اكتب ما لا يقل عن 4 صفحات وما لا يزيد على 8 صفحات؛ مستخدمًا خط Simplified Arabic، مقاس 14 نقطة (للنصوص العربية) ، أو خط

Times New Roman، مقاس 12 نقطة (للنصوص الإنجليزية)؛ مع ترك مسافة مزدوجة بين السطور، وضبط جميع الهوامش بحيث يكون عرضها 5,2سم، ووضع أرقام الصفحات في الهامش العلوي؛ (لن يُلتفت بتاتًا إلى الأعمال المخالفة للضوابط السابقة).

اكتب المقال بأسلوبك الخاص، فإذا كنت ستستعين ببعض المراجع، فاحرص على ذكرها في شكل هوامش في نهاية المقال؛ مبينًا عنوان كلِّ مرجع ومؤلفه والناشر وتاريخ النشر وأرقام الصفحات؛ وذلك تفاديًا لاستبعاد مقالك للاشتباه في السرقة العلمية.

   في حالة عدم توافر الشروط يحق للجنة التحكيم رفض العمل المقدم.

كيف أُسَلِّم المقال؟

يُرجى ملء استمارة الاشتراك على الرابط التالي https://goo.gl/forms/mxwmhjDQUMtA7fzw1، ثم إرسال نسخة إلكترونية من المقال (ملف وُرد) إلى mainlibrary.contests@bibalex.org، من خلال بريدكم الإلكتروني الشخصي (على أن يكون البريد الإلكتروني نفسه الذي قمتم بتسجيله في استمارة الاشتراك).

ما آخر موعد لإرسال المقال؟

آخر موعد لإرسال المقال هو الخميس الموافق 30 أغسطس 2018.

ماذا عن الجوائز؟

بالنسبة إلى المشاركين باللغة العربية، فسوف تخصص ثلاث جوائز للمراكز الثلاثة الأولى، كما ستحصل المراكز العشرة الأولى على شهادات تقدير،
أما بالنسبة إلى المشاركين باللغة الإنجليزية، فسوف تخصص جائزة واحدة للمركز الأول بكل مسابقة، كما ستحصل المراكز الخمسة الأولى على شهادات تقدير، وفي حالة فوز أي مشارك من خارج مصر، فسيحصل على شهادة تقدير تُرسل إليه عن طريق البريد.

وسيتم الإعلان عن النتيجة في الحفل الختامي لبرنامج «القراءة الكبرى بمكتبة الإسكندرية» يوم الخميس الموافق 27 سبتمبر 2018، كما سيتم نشر جميع المقالات المقبولة في المسابقة من خلال المدونة الإلكترونية الخاصة بالمسابقة، على الرابط التالي:

on Short Stories entitled

The Tell-Tale Heart and The Masque of the Red Death

by the American writer Edgar Allan Poe

The works of Edgar Allan Poe are characterized by mystery, horror and the focus on the Psychological state of his characters. In The Tell-Tale Heart and The Masque of the Red Death, he embodied the inner struggle of men, their sufferings and the consequences of their actions.
In The Tell-Tale Heart it was embodied through a man led by madness to commit a murder, ultimately, his feelings of guilt or a mental disturbance result in him confessing the murder.
And in The Masque of the Red Death the idea was embodied by a prince who thought that he could flee death and that he is better than the poor, so death showed him that he cannot hide.

Who can participate?
Everybody from age 16 years and above.

What should I write?
Write an essay on any aspect of the literary work that captured your attention (characters, plot, themes, critical analysis, symbolism, narratology, etc.). You can write your essay in Arabic or English. Each participant will submit only one essay.

How should I write?
Write not less than four pages (A4-size) and not more than eight pages, using 12 pt Times New Roman font (for English essays) or 14 pt Simplified Arabic font (for Arabic essays), with double-spaced lines. Set the margins of your document at 2.5 cm on all sides. Create a header that numbers all pages consecutively.
You should write in your own words. If you use any references, you have to mention them as an endnote (including title, author, publisher, publication date, and page number). This is to avoid any hint of plagiarism which can exclude your essay from the contest.
The Contest Committee has the right to refuse any work that does not follow the above-mentioned terms.

What can I win?
For participants contributing in English, there will be one prize for the first winner and certificates for the first five winners. For those participating in Arabic, there will be prizes for the first three winners, in addition to certificates for the first ten winners. Winners from abroad will receive a certificate by mail.
The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the Big Read at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina which will take place on Thursday, 27 September 2018. All eligible works will be published on the blog of the contest: https://essaycontest-bigread2018.blogspot.com.eg/
