The Tell-Tale Heart and The Masque of the Red Death

The works of Edgar Allan Poe are characterized by mystery, horror and the focus on the Psychological state of his characters. In The Tell-Tale Heart and The Masque of the Red Death, he embodied the inner struggle of men, their sufferings and the consequences of their actions.
In The Tell-Tale Heart it was embodied through a man led by madness to commit a murder, ultimately, his feelings of guilt or a mental disturbance result in him confessing the murder.
And in The Masque of the Red Death the idea was embodied by a prince who thought that he could flee death and that he is better than the poor, so death showed him that he cannot hide.
Who can participate?
Everybody from age 16 years and above.
What should I write?
Write an essay on any aspect of the literary work that captured your attention (characters, plot, themes, critical analysis, symbolism, narratology, etc.). You can write your essay in Arabic or English. Each participant will submit only one essay.
How should I write?
Write not less than four pages (A4-size) and not more than eight pages, using 12 pt Times New Roman font (for English essays) or 14 pt Simplified Arabic font (for Arabic essays), with double-spaced lines. Set the margins of your document at 2.5 cm on all sides. Create a header that numbers all pages consecutively.
You should write in your own words. If you use any references, you have to mention them as an endnote (including title, author, publisher, publication date, and page number). This is to avoid any hint of plagiarism which can exclude your essay from the contest.
The Contest Committee has the right to refuse any work that does not follow the above-mentioned terms.

E-mail address as indicated in the registration form.

Submission deadline: Thursday, 30 August 2018.
What can I win?
For participants contributing in English, there will be one prize for the first winner and certificates for the first five winners. For those participating in Arabic, there will be prizes for the first three winners, in addition to certificates for the first ten winners. Winners from abroad will receive a certificate by mail.
The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the Big Read at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina which will take place on Thursday, 27 September 2018. All eligible works will be published on the blog of the contest: https://essaycontest-bigread2018.blogspot.com.eg/
